Review : Queensbay Shanghai Ding Tai Feng Restaurant
RasaMalaysia told me about this restaurant and she even mailed me the cute looking little porcupine dumpling photos to entice me! Tks, Rasa Malaysia.

The pocketmouse dumpling with custard fillings. RM3.80 So cute….you don’t feel like biting it. Nice custard fillings.
So, we made our way to Queensbay tonight, wondering if the place is open for dinner. We are in luck because the Shanghai dim sums are available for dinner too. It is not a very large restaurant but service is fast and pleasant.

Their menu is a little like Dragon-I but only much cheaper. We ordered their spring onion ramen and it is served with a tiny saucer of peanut butter. Funny that the ramen goes well with the peanut butter. A plate is only RM3.80 and portion is not very big. The foreground photo is a plate of fried radish cake with seafood (not recommended because it is a little oily).

What’s a Shanghai restaurant without these Shanghai dumplings with soup, right? So, we ordered a tray of scallop ’siu long pau’ which my kids enjoyed. I think they have charged us wrongly because we were billed RM16.80 for 8 pieces but we ate only one tray of four pieces. Hmmm..
We ordered many types of their dim sum but I only managed to get just a few pictures because I was too busy eating.

My kids absolutely adore these little fried custard bun. It is like mantou but after deep frying, the skin is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. RM3.00 for three pieces.

They have plenty of Hongkong style drinks like the Hongkong tea, yingyong coffee, all kinds of desserts and I had the coke boiled with ginger. But this durian crepe is worth a mention. The fillings has very ‘real’ durian flavour but it would have been a little nicer if it is a bit sweeter.
We went there around 8.30 pm and the place is not that crowded anymore. I must say that it is a restaurant worth visiting if you are around the area. Queensbay Mall is the up and coming Jusco huge project near Gold Coast. Our total bill comes up to only RM58.50 which includes several trays of dim sum, bowls of ramen and drinks.

Hey there Lilian,
Aiyo, I almost forgot about the pokey mouse buns already and you just reminded me. It’s going to be tough as I can’t find any pokey mouse in the US. And yeah, the durian pancake, I can’t find it here either. Will have to go back to Penang again…
I am glad that you guys made it to this restaurant. I knew it!!! After reading your blog for so long, I just know that your kids would love the pokey mouse buns!

Hi everyone, just bump into your food comment and just like to let u guys know the DTF in Qsbay mall is not the Original DTF from Taiwan. (copycat) the REAL DTF from Taiwan is now opened at Midvalley “The Gardens”.
cheers!
